Dr. Mark Holtzblatt is an Associate Professor of Accounting at Cleveland State University in the Monte Ahuja College of Business, teaching International Accounting and Financial Accounting courses. Dr. Holtzblatt holds certifications in IFRS from the AICPA and ICAEW. He currently serves on three 2021-2022 national committees of the American Accounting Association (AAA), including being the Chair of the Steering Committee of Issues in Accounting Education, and a member of the AAA Publications Committee.

Dr. Holtzblatt was a Visiting Scholar and Professor of Accounting at the China University of Petroleum (UPC) at the Qingdao, China campus in 2016. a national key university affiliated to the Ministry of Education and co-constructed with CNPC, SINOPEC, CNOOC, and CHEMCHINA.

Dr. Holtzblatt has received numerous awards for teaching, innovation, and research including: the 2021 AICPA Mark Chain/FSA Innovation in Graduate Teaching Award, co-sponsored by the AICPA, Grant Thornton and the Federation of Schools of Accountancy (FSA); the 2021 AAA Forensic Accounting Section Best Teaching Innovation Award; the 2017 Outstanding Instructional Contribution Award, Honorable Mention, AAA Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Section; the 2016 ATA/Deloitte Teaching Innovation Award, sponsored by the American Taxation Association (ATA) and Deloitte; the 2016 Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Lybrand Competition Certificate of Merit; and the 2015 Outstanding Accounting Education Research Award from the AAA Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Section and EY. He is also the recipient of the 2011 AAA Innovation in Accounting Education Award sponsored by EY, and the 2010 Howard Teall Innovation in Accounting Education Award from the Canadian Academic Accounting Association (CAAA).

His latest articles are published in: Issues in Accounting Education; Journal of Emerging Technologies in
Accounting; Management Accounting Quarterly; The Journal of Accounting Education; International Tax Journal; Advances in Accounting Education: Teaching and Curriculum Innovations; Internal Auditor; Business Economics; and Accounting Education: An International Journal.

Dr. Holtzblatt's work is supported by grants from the Purdue University Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to research the use of technology in teaching IFRS. He is also recipient of a grant from the CSU Center for Teaching Excellence to implement XBRL into the International Accounting Course.
